Mayor Coerper called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

City Commissioner Dayna Miller moved approval of the agenda with adding the Alachua Elementary School Student Artist appreciation.

2nd City Commissioner Jennifer Ringersen

The motion carried 5-0.

 

Commissioner Cornell moved approval of the agenda with the recommended changes. 

2nd Commissioner Prizzia

The motion carried 5-0.

  • To approve the Agenda. 

Mayor Gib Coerper and Ms. Jaime presented certificates to Alachua Elementary School students for all of their beautiful artwork. 

City Manager Mike DaRoza stated the above item is an open discussion item for the commissioners to discuss. 

Robert Bonetti Finance and Administrative Services Director briefly discussed the two projects that the city currently has. 

 

Commissioner Cornell, and Chair Alford presented comments. 

 

Public Comment

Mayor Coerper recognized Tamara Robbins who presented comments.

 

City Manager Mike DaRoza  presented comments. 

Public Works Director Ramon Gavarrete presented the above item to the City and County Commission having a brief discussion regarding roads.

 

Mayor Coerper, Commissioner Wheeler, and Chair Alford presented comments.

 

Public Comment

Chair Alford recognized Tamara Robbins, Mitch Blazer, Gloria Jones-Andrews, and Karen who presented comments. 

 

City Commissioner Dayna Miller, Commissioner Prizzia, City Commissioner Jennifer Ringersen, City Mayor Mike, Commissioner Cornell, Commissioner Wheeler, and Chair Alford presented comments. 

 

Assistant City Manager Rodolfo Valladares and Economic Development Manager David Wisener presented the above item to the commission. 

 

Assistant City Manager Rodolfo Valladares states the property falls within the Florida Department of Environmental Protections(FDEP) Columbia-Hornsby-Treehouse Springs priority focus area. Pinkoson Spring is a tributary to Turkey Creek and the city's field testing that it is likely water that flows from the aquifer. 

 

Commissioner Wheeler, Mayor Gib Coerper, and City Manager Mike DaRoza presented comments. 

 

Commissioner Prizzia moved to refer to County Manager and staff to work with the City of Alachua to explore the Pinkoson Spring project and opportunities for funding.   

2nd Commissioner Chestnut

The motion carried 5-0.

 

City Commissioner Dayna Miller, Commissioner Chestnut, City Mayor Gib Coerper, City Commissioner Jennifer Ringersen, City Manager Mike, and City Commissioner Shirley Green Brown presented comments. 

 

City Commissioner Dayna Miller moved to mirror the county motion.

The motion carried 5-0. 

 

Public Comment

Chair recognized Tamara Robbins, Karen Carrington, Vanen Delacodo, Gloria Jones-Andrews, and James Jim Carrington who presented comments. 

 

Assistant County Manager Carl Smart presented comments. 

 

City Mayor Gib Coerper recognized Bonnie K Burges, and Tamara Robbins who presented comments. 

Commissioner Cornell would like to thank the City of Alachua for having the County present and it was a good meeting 

Commissioner Prizzia would like to thank the citizens for coming out and sharing your comments. 

Chair Alford stated she would like to say it was a great meeting and she really enjoyed herself. 

 

City Commissioner Dayna Miller encouraged the County Commissioners to come back again and spend time in the community. 

City Commissioner Jennifier Ringersen stated she would like to thank the commissioners for attending. 

City Commissioner Shirley Green-Brown thanked the County and Citizens for attending the meeting. 

City Commissioner Edward Potts would like to thank the County for attending the meeting and he is excited to move forward. 

 

There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
